    A Question from South Korea: I began growing sage for the first time. It's growing well in a pot outside. This newborn baby is now about two to three feet tall. Would cutting the center stem from it to produce another one be okay? Or would it be better to wait until next year?

    Could you clarify something, please? 'm watching all your videos from the beginning. I watched the Hidden Benefits of Lavender. I've read that lavender should not be mulched as it rots so how does that work using the permaculture layers methods of compost, newspapers and mulch? Could you explain how best to plant lavender, please? Sorry to tag onto this video but I wanted you to see my message. Hugs from Crete!

    • @MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife
      @MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife 16 дней назад

      Hello. Lavender does not like having wet feet, so plant in a well drained position. There are many varieties though. I’ve looked for one that works well in my warmer wetter climate and put it in a hot dryish spot. I usually take cuttings and strike them before planting out. I do interplant them in my diverse permaculture garden so they are mulched with the rest of things and they thrive. Especially because I have them in the hottest driest sector. Try it a few places and see which works best.

    • @linpollock54
      @linpollock54 16 дней назад

      I think our climates are very similar which is why I knew you'd be able to answer my query! My lavender grows well but I'm trying to adapt my currently planted beds to the no dig method. It makes a lot of sense to me. I've also been watching Charles Dowding so between you I reckon I have the best help I can get. Thanks, Morag. Hugs from a baking hot Crete!

    What you're describing there is a cardamom ginger, AKA false cardamom & dwarf Cardamom. True cardamom, Elettaria cardamomum, should not have any fragrant to their leaves and are very tall plants, full grown size is 2 meters or more. False cardamom leaves are fragrant and can be used in tea/cooking but the fruits are nothing like the true cardamom, and therefore these two plants cannot be used interchangeably.
